A Bill Republicans Wish They Could Pass
Now I know this is just a spoof, and I know no one would ever really vote for this, but come on it is funny.
In all reality social security is one of our most successful social programs and has never ran a deficit until recently. Actually, until now social security has had a surplus every year. That surplus money is then lent out to other parts of the government never to be seen again, and also contributes to our national debt. If our government was serious about fixing social security they would simply raise the amount of income taxed for social security from its present amount of one hundred thousand dollars to one million dollars. If this was done social security would be solvent indefinitely. Right now Bill Gates and Warren Buffet only pay social security tax on their first one hundred thousand dollars earned. Do you really think they would notice if their first one million dollars was taxed instead?

Herman Cain's 999 tax plan. Is it really as simple as you think is it?
Well, other than the fact that I think he only entered this race to boost his books sales and speaking fees, I also think that he is just as surprised as everyone else is that he is the front runner. That being said, I really don't think that it was a serious plan to begin with. It is just too stupendously simple. It almost seems like something that he cooked up over dinner with a couple of friends. He probably didn't expect that it would be pushed out into the main stream with such ferocity to be scrutinized by everyone in the media. Our country with our 400 million plus citizens needs more that just an elementary, catchy and quite frankly border lining on dim-witted solution to our overbearing and quite complicated fiscal issues. Issues that need to be dealt with soon before we experience an economic crash that would dwarf the great depression.
The GOP Presidential Field
What do you think of the GOP primary Race? If you ask me they are all just competing to win the illustrious prize of being allowed to be beaten in the general election by Barack Obama. It is quite obvious that no one on the stage even has a chance to compete with him on any level. The one nominee that actually had a chance has been shunned off the stage because he "believes" in science and has some common sense. I want to here what other people think on this subject. Actually, I really want to hear from people that do not like Barak Obama. I have not to this day heard a single argument as to why Barack Obama has not been a good president that passes the laugh test. Most people I talk to simply say, "I don't know why I just don't like him". Lets face it thats not an acceptable political argument.
Now I do not think he is perfect, and there are some things that I would have most likely done differently but I think that Barack Obama Is one of the most well rounded and effective presidents we have had in a generation.
Also, Herman Cain proves a point that I have been tying to convince people of for a very long time. Black people, myself included, did not vote for Barack Obama simply because he was black. They voted for him because he was the right man for the job. Mr. Cain proves this because black people would not vote for him even if he was running against a white person.
So please tell me your thoughts on this subject.

First Post
This will be my first post. My hope is that in the future I will have many people that actually care about the positions and opinions that will be expressing here. I will be talking about politics and science here with the occasional digression into what ever it is I decide to digress on. This is intended to be an interactive blog and I encourage comments and participation. I think this will be fun so lets find out together.
